1953 – King Olav’s 50th birthday celebration – Government’s Gala Dinner

July is almost over, and it is usually a very quiet month as most people are off on holiday. Even Royals normally have a calmer month in July. But some of them are born in this month and when there is a round year it is only natural that it should be celebrated with gathering family and friends. His late Majesty King Olav V was born on July 2nd 1903 which meant that in 1953 he was celebrating his 50th birthday. He was of course back then the Crown Prince of Norway as his father was still alive. The Government gave a gala dinner in his honour at Akershus Castle.
